Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus Review

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus Design

From the view the 13 Pro Plus exudes elegance with its triple camera setup. Holding the phone gives off a vibe. Weighing at 199g it consists of protection with Gorilla Glass Victus. Offers either a glass or eco leather back. Opt for a finish for a look or choose eco leather for added sophistication. The device is IP68 dust and water resistant ensuring durability even if it takes a dip.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus Display

The Redmi Note 13 Pro plus consist of an amazing 6.67 inch AMOLED display, with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a screen to body ratio of around 90%. Xiaomi touts the display’s 68 billion colors, HDR10+ support and peak brightness of 1800 nits ensuring visuals on its 1220×2712 pixel resolution screen. If you’re into multimedia content this phone is a treat for your eyes with its color reproduction.

The design really stands out offering an upgrade, from the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus model. You can choose between a glass and a luxurious “vegan leather” option, both exuding a futuristic look with sleek curves that seamlessly blend into the sides. The in display fingerprint reader works swiftly and also functions as a heart rate sensor. Additionally it consists of Dolby Vision support to complete its features.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus Processor

Xiaomi has opted for MediaTek’s 4 nanometer Dimensity 7200 Ultra chip for this model along with a base storage of 256GB (which unfortunately cannot be expanded further). The device now features storage compared to the previous versions UFS2.2. RAM capacity can reach up to 12GB ensuring performance overall.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus Battery

The Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is powered by a 5,000mAh battery but doesn’t show significant improvements in longevity based on benchmark tests despite expectations of enhanced efficiency due to the newer manufacturing process.Perhaps we could use some optimization.

The 120W HyperCharge feature was a lifesaver, for charging situations especially when I was running late for work and my phone battery was only at 28%. Within 10-12 minutes it jumped up to 75% giving me juice to last the entire day. However in my charging tests reaching from 0 to 100% never happened in under 20 minutes. It usually took around the 30 minute mark. Even longer at times. This discrepancy might be due to a unit issue. Setting that aside, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ impresses with its battery performance.

During usage the phone managed to sustain itself throughout a day with multiple apps running in the background, a few hours of gaming and some streaming on Prime Video. With usage it could last up to 36 hours. In video playback test where I looped a video until the battery drained out under settings the phone held up for approximately 9 hours and 55 minutes. Which is quite respectable.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus Camera

On the camera front this device features a versatile triple camera setup consisting of a high resolution main sensor at an impressive 200MP along with an ultra wide lens at 8MP and a macro lens, at 2MP. You can now capture videos in 4K, at 24/30fps and, in 1080p at 30/60fps. Regarding the camera it features a 16MP selfie camera for recording videos at 1080P@30/60. In general this phone is a rounded smartphone that offers value for money.

During the day photos taken with the main camera show detail and a nice depth of field. However sometimes the exposure is not quite right. The colors may come across as vibrant. I noticed a pinkish hue in some of the pictures I captured. If you focus on your subject by tapping on it you can achieve a bokeh effect with the main camera. Additionally there’s a portrait mode if you prefer a pronounced background blur. As night falls expect some noise to appear, in areas where bright spots may become overexposed. Night mode does a job if you stay steady.

Regrettably the main camera is accompanied by a 8 MP lens and a practically useless 2 MP macro lens. The ultrawide shots tend to have tones compared to the camera but exhibit more noise and struggle in low light conditions. The macro lens seems redundant as it produces low quality images. For up shots stick to using the camera.

The underwhelming performance of the lenses might not be significant for users who primarily rely on the main camera for their photography needs. Additionally there’s a 16 MP front facing camera, for taking selfies and engaging in video calls.

The top notch video choice is 4K, at 30 frames, per second. You have the option of selecting 1080p at a maximum of 240 fps. The video I captured appeared smooth and clear.

Conclusion

In this Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus review it stands out as a good choice, for its price. One thing that might make potential buyers hesitate is that the Xiaomi Poco X6 Pro is more affordable. When looking in this price range it’s worth checking out Google’s Pixel 7A and Samsung’s Galaxy A54 5G.
