Infinix Hot 40i Review

Infinix Hot 40i Unboxing

Upon purchasing the Infinix Hot 40i you can expect to find a charger included in the package. An inclusion by Infinix considering that some brands have stopped providing chargers at price ranges. Along with the charger you’ll receive earphones as a fitting silicone TPU case for your phone. Additionally inside the box are an Xpark leaflet, sim ejector tool and a USB C charging cable.

Infinix Hot 40i Design

Let’s start by discussing its design aesthetics. In an attempt to mimic iPhone aesthetics or draw inspiration from Apple’s iPhone 14 and 15 Pro series camera setups Infinix has crafted an premium back design for the Hot 40i model. Available, in four color options I personally find black to be particularly striking.

The front design of the phone is quite stylish, similar to smartphones featuring a punch camera located in the center of the display, which adds a cool factor to its appearance.

Infinix Hot 40i Display

The highlight of the device is its display. The Infinix Hot 40i consists of a beautiful 6.56 inch screen with a rate of either 80Hz or 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 120Hz or 180Hz. With a screen to body ratio of around 90% there are bezels surrounding the display compared to other phones in its price range. Additionally it offers a panel with a screen resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels providing colors with its brightness reaching up to 480 nits and supporting DCI P3 wide color gamut. In summary the display quality is quite impressive considering its price.

Infinix Hot 40i Processor

Under the hood the phone is equipped with the Unisoc T606 processor. While it may not be as powerful as some models like Spark 20 it still delivers performance for everyday use. Feel free to drop a comment if you’d like me to compare both phones in detail. My phone comes with 4GB RAM which can be expanded up to 8GB using memory fusion technology. Original 8GB RAM can be expand as 16GB. It offers storage space at 128GB.

Overall performance is satisfactory, for its price point. Can handle demanding games smoothly at lower graphics settings. Apps open quickly. Stay active in the background. During my testing of the phone I didn’t encounter any delays when launching apps and games. If you stick to using it for tasks you shouldn’t face any issues and considering its price it’s quite satisfactory.

Infinix Hot 40i Connectivity

The Infinix Hot 40i supports dual nano SIM cards along with a micro SD card slot, which is not common in phones these days but is present in the case of the 40i. This ensures connectivity options such as GPS navigation, a USB Type C port, a headphone jack, FM radio and NFC are available. Overall the connectivity package offered is decent.

Infinix Hot 40i Battery

Equipped with a 5000mAh battery. As usual for Infinix phones the battery life is impressive. Additionally it supports 18 watts charging which takes 2 hours to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 percent. Battery performance should not be a concern, on this device.

Infinix Hot 40i Camera

A primary 50MP lens paired with an AI lens. On the side there’s a 32MP selfie camera accompanied by a flashlight which serves as another key feature. The photos turn out good especially when you use the 50MP option in the camera app, for detailed and vibrant pictures. You also have the choice to go for 32MP in the settings. That produces better shots.

There are filters in the camera app and the portrait mode works really well. The super night mode is impressive too, making a difference in low light conditions. Just remember to keep your phone steady while using it. The video recording quality is limited to 1080p for both back cameras.

Infinix Hot 40i Price

The Infinix Hot 40i price is $110 in the USA.

Conclusion

Overall the Infinix Hot 40i is a bit tricky to recommend due to its similarities with Tecno Spark 20. The main deciding factor here is the processor performance. Although the 40is processor is not bad by any means, Tecno Spark 20s MediaTek Helio G85 chip edges ahead. Nevertheless I consider Hot 40i to be a device, with its camera capabilities and overall user experience. If you can overlook the processor comparison it remains a good device.

If you’re on a budget and looking for an affordable phone I’d recommend going for it. However in my view if you can stretch your budget by around $100 opting for Samsungs range phones would be a better choice. This review covers the specifications of the Infinix Hot 40i.
